The Buffalo State Newman Center has had a volunteer presence at Friends of Night People for over forty years. Our current volunteer activities are done in honor of long time parishioner Anne Bissonette who passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Current Volunteer activities that we are involved in include:

Serving a meal the first Tuesday of every month between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. at the Matt Urban Hope Center at 385 Paderewski Drive. The meal is provided by the staff of Friends of Night People.

Serving dinner the third Monday of every month between the hours of 5:00P.M. and 7:00 P.M. at Friends of Night People located at 394 Hudson Street.

Each Friday of the year we pick up donated food from Pine Hill Fresh Foods Inc. located at 3538 California Road in Orchard Park and deliver it to Friends of Night People. The food becomes the basis for that evening’s served meal.

The employees of the Northrop-Grumman Corporation on Wehrle Drive in Amherst collect and donate returnable bottles and cans. We pick them up on a consistent basis to be recycled and give the return deposit money to Friends of Night People.

Many of our volunteers also donate usable clothing which is distributed free of charge to clients at Friends.

Our community is always interested in more members helping with these activities. If you are interested in joining our volunteer list please contact Bob Drajem at rdrajem@roadrunner.com or 716-854-8170.
